I was born in London, UK in March 1967 and I have been told that I am a typical Pisces (even though I can't swim!!!).
My mother passed away when I was just six years old. My father , pictured here in Abingdon in 1995, raised me in conjunction with an Aunt and Grandmother who also lived closeby in London. Sadly my father also passed away in 1995, just a few months after his photo here was taken. I missed him very much, because I had so much respect for him - although we didn't always agree on everything - many of my attitudes and principles by which I live my life today have been taught by him, not by lecture, but by action and walking his talk.
I lived in London until I was 22. I got a first class honours degree at the University of the South Bank in 'Physical Sciences and Scientific Computing in 1989; the degree ceremony shown in this photo was at Southwark Cathedral in London. I then moved to Abingdon on Thames and started work in Oxfordshire. I have been with the same company since then.
I am essentially now working on the study of materials properties and chemistry related issues. I have been involved with both conducting and managing experimental programmes and my current activities are focused more on theoretical assessment work and consultancy with a specific emphasis on the application of chemical thermodynamics to industrial processes.
My job has given me lots of opportunities to travel, for which I am grateful. I am currently working in the South of France, living in Aix en Provence and it looks like I may be here until the end of Dec 1999.
I have a number of wide ranging interests:-
reading books (fiction and non-fiction) and magazines on different subjects;
I am an avid cinema goer;
I enjoy travelling;
and photography has become a fairly new interest for me.
I enjoy walking and playing tennis;
Socialising and talking with friends.
I am also interested in many aspects of personal development and performing to the best of one's capabilities and in the past few years have studied both hypnosis and Neuro linguistic Programming, as well as attending a number of other seminars and reading different books and listening to tape-sets.
